Dun understand your question.  You are saying how to trigger the 430 off camera?  Does the flash have the "slave light" function?

Sorry, didnt structure my question clearer.

Actually am asking for a friend and at the same time curious about the answer.

Intending to use the 430 off camera. So I would need a remote transmitter of sort on the DLSR to trigger it ya? Which transmittor to buy? would of cause need a wireless one.

Not sure if the flash have a slave function. Nothing on the canon website mentioned:
http://www.canon.com.sg/p/EN/323-DSLR-Cameras/860-Accessories/1393-Speedlite-430EX-II/

Must a slave function be a must have feature on the flash in order to use it off camera?

as you mention, no sure if there is slave unit on the 430.

if there is slave function, you can use another flash or the camera build in flash to trigger this off camera.  otherwise, you can also use a flash extention cable to use it off camera (restricted by the lenght of the cable),

another method is to us a flash trigger, a transmtter attached to the camera hotshoe; and a receiver for your flash to mount on.
